Chhat Pooja is an Indian festival. Chhat Puja starts from two day before Kartik
Shashthi and ends after the day to Kartik Shashthi. This festival is related to Sun and Chhathi
Maiya(a Godden). On this day people do Prayers in order to Thank Sun(Surya). Because
sun is the biggest energy source for human being. This festival is very popular
in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Other than India this festival is celebrated in
many places of the world like Jamaica, Guyana, Mauritius.
The legend says that on this day Pandavas performed the Chhat puja on the advice of sage Dhaumya. Chhati Maiya is also worshiped on this day. This is believed that Chhhati Maiya was the consort of Lord Surya(Sun). The other name of Godden Chhati is Usha. Usha is also a Hindi word which is used for the first light of the day.

puja is from 27 October to 30 October. The
next year Chhat Puja will be from 15 November to 18 November.
